Welcome to the New VISTAS Programs

During the onset of the Coronavirus, our world had changed immensely. Here at SHS we had to adapt to the closure of our three-day programs due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The day programs were closed on March 18, 2020 and within two weeks all programs were providing day program services remotely. Since in-person contact was not an option any longer, staff reached out to all our consumers via phone, Facetime and Zoom classes. through these modalities, we were able to make regular contact with over 95% of our consumers. In rare cases, the consumer or family declined contact. After a few months, we increased our contact by conducting at-home visits, which occur only outside the consumer’s home following strict protocols developed by the County of Los Angeles Department of Health.
